Welcome to the West Virginia Chapter of HFMA
West Virginia Healthcare Financial Management Association (WV HFMA) is a professional membership organization for providers, vendors and accountants involved in the strategic planning, financial and/or operational management of the healthcare delivery in West Virginia. This website serves to provide our members with the latest information on educational events and activities both locally and nationally related to healthcare finance and other relevant topics to ensure the best practices in our professional field.
Hello West Virginia HFMA Chapter Members and friends;
It is an honor to serve as President of the chapter for the 2019-2020 year.
First let me take the opportunity to congratulate our past President from the 2018-2019 year, Leah Klinke. Under Leah’s leadership our chapter was recognized for many accomplishments including, but not limited to, certification, excellence for education, membership retention, education quality, membership growth as well as four Helen M Yerger special recognition awards for the chapter and one multichapter Yerger. What a great year!
Of course, the most important asset our chapter has is each of you as members and valued business partners. As we look forward to our next year I am confident we have a strong team and framework to follow to enable us to have another successful year. Some of our goals for the 2019-2020 year include:
- Continue to develop and refine committee roles in order to increase volunteer opportunities.
- Continue to develop the Chapter’s Succession Plan
- Revise and implement a new Business Partner opportunity structure
- Conduct networking sessions throughout the state to boost career development and growth in the target markets i.e., physician and health plans
- Work to increase overall membership in the WV Chapter as well as physician and health plan segments
To kick off the new year, Michael Allen, HFMA’s National Chair had this to say, “As HFMA’s 2019-2020 National Chair, my theme for the year is Dare You 2 Move. We are at a critical, highstakes juncture in the healthcare industry, maybe like never before. I believe it is important for anyone who wants to make a difference in this environment to find something uncomfortable and start doing it now. We need to get off the sidelines and into the arena. The dissonance of where we are and where we could be is not going to fix itself. The healthcare cost problem is not going to fix itself. Thus, I am challenging us all to not only identify how we — individually and collectively — might bridge that gap but also to get in there and move on it.”
At the HFMA Annual Conference, he launched the 1000 Dares Project to encourage and celebrate those who take action. His goal is for everyone to “share your dare”, large or small either personal or work related. He stated, “I’ve got a couple of thousand overachievers in this room, so I expect we can destroy that goal by the end of July and if it goes slow, or we don’t reach 1000? I will embrace the failure, learn from it, and keep moving.” So, let’s all get involved with the challenge, share your dares on twitter and don’t forget to include the hashtags #wvhfma #hfma #DY2M.
I’d like to thank everyone for your continued commitment and contributions to our chapter’s growth and success and look forward to working together to “move” the WV Chapter forward in new ways during the upcoming year!
